Search Engine Optimisation

Search Engine optimisation is a critical requirement often missed with generic CMS Solutions. This screen shows the administration process of defining and setting keywords, key phrases which are reused with every image on the site.

Each image will have its correct ALT Tag which ensures search engine friendly pages are generated.

Navigation Structure (Search Engine Friendly Navigation)

It is important to have a link guide in every page of the website. This will help the visitor to
understand where he/she is and to experience easy navigation.

The SiteMap page is a  very significant page on a web site. This is because

• Search Engine spiders are looking for Site maps.
• It is important to use hyphens when naming the Site Map (site-map.html).

All ContentEASY pages have links to main pages of the website at the bottom of every page.

Broken links will create a negative impact on the website from visitors’ and search engines’
point of view. ContentEASY has a built in link checker to ensure no pages are incorrectly deleted where live links occur.

Title Tag

The title tag is one of the most important factors in achieving search engine rankings. All search
engines use Title tag to gather information about the website / page. The words in the Title tag
are what that appears in the clickable link on the search engine results page (SERP).

Guidelines for Title Tags:
• It is important to have a relevant and keyword-rich Title tag. Title Tag should attract the search engine spider as well as the visitor (prospective customer).
• Title Tag should ideally read like a phrase that makes some grammatical sense. It is not just a collection of keywords. The sequencing of the keywords should make logical sense.
• It is important to have descriptive Title tags, which would create a positive
impact on visitors and search engines.
• Title tag should be between 60 – 80 characters (with spaces).
• It is suggested to use a “:” when separating the Title tag. For example, when describing the first part of the tag in the second part always use a “:” to separate the tag.

 Meta Tags

Every webpage requires meta data to help search engines, unique identify its content.
ContentEASY support the two types of Meta tags: Meta description and Meta key words. Although some search engines (e.g. Google) do not give any weight to Meta tags, some search engines consider Meta tags as an important factor in their ranking algorithm.

Meta Description Tag

The Meta Description Tag is a part of HTML code that allows giving a short and concise
summary of the web page content. The purpose of this tag is twofold. The words placed within this tag are given some weight in some search engines and can help a page to rank high in the search results for these particular words. Just as important, the words placed in this Meta Tag, are often used in the search engines result pages (SERP), just below the Title Tag as a brief description of the page.

Meta Key Words Tag

ContentEASY provides ease of management access to this tag, which  will have key words related to the website and key words related to the particular page. This section can be used to have similar search terms.

Alt Tags for Images and graphics

All graphic elements should have ALT tags. It should describe the graphic / image in few words.
Most search engines reward the sites with descriptive keyword rich Alt tags.
