Sites within Sites
ContentEASY's. "Site within Site", concept allows the creation of a website, within a much larger site. This feature is very useful, when a "Microsite", needs to be quickly created to serve a specific purpose, such as Product launch, or to contain very specific information about a subject, but this Microsite's content is also duplicated within the main site.
Duplicating content is time consuming, fraught with errors, and if it is treated as separate content then can cause business integrity issues.
Each microsite created can inherit the look n feel of the main site, or can have it very own look and feel.
Each microsite, can have its own independent URL, or be part of the existing main domain.
Choosing a domain name is an important part of the overall marketing process and should not be taken lightly. We need to make sure that the domain name represents the company, product and image. We also need to consider how search engines are treating domain names in their rankings algorithms. Search engines in general would like to see keyword rich domain names. Anyway, we should not sacrifice the quality of the domain names by stuffing keywords in to it. We should not waste our time and money by trying to acquire all possible domain names with different keywords and with different domain name extensions because it is not possible for anyone to own all possible combinations. Having said that, it is recommended to buy the country specific domain names along with the .com domain names. For example, it can be recommended to buy the .co.uk domain along with the .com domain for a client based in the UK.
Use of Sub Domains
Top search engines including Yahoo and Google do not recommend using the sub domains.
Therefore, it can be recommended to use the main domain name structure instead of using sub
domains. It can be suggested to use http://www.domainname.com/bangkok instead of
http://bangkok.domainname.com/
Sub Domains
Best practice is to use the sub domains without “www”. As such, the following redirection
method is recommended. 301 (permanent redirection) from http://www.sub.domain.com to http://sub.domain.com
Best example would be Google’s standard with Sub domains. Google uses sub domains without
“www”. (Example: http://www.google.com/news, and http://www.news.google.com/ redirects
to http://news.google.com/)
Example:
http://www.amsterdam.swisshotel.com/ to http://amsterdam.swisshotel.com/
http://www.chicago.peninsula.com/ to http://chicago.peninsula.com/
